Man unloading cargo from ship hit by machinery, falls over

A 50-year-old man residing in Haz-Zebbug is in danger of dying after he was hit by a piece of machinery, pushing him over causing him to fall.

In a statement, the police’s communications office said the incident happened at around 5pm near the deep-water quay in Valletta.

Preliminary investigations found that a number of workers were unloading cargo from a ship when the man was hit by the machinery.

An ambulance rushed the man to Mater Dei Hospital where it was certified he was suffering from grievous injuries and is in danger of dying.

Police investigation underway. A magisterial  inquiry has been appointed.
