Blaze engulfs boat, woman grievously injured after suffering burns

A woman has been grievously injured after suffering burns to her upper body during a boat fire in Marsaskala this morning.

The incident occurred this morning at around 10:45am in Triq id-Dahla ta San Tumas, when a blaze engulfed a 15-foot boat in a garage.

The police said a 30-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman, both residing in Zabbar, were in the garage at the time of the blaze. The man escaped unhurt, but the woman was conveyed to Mater Dei Hospital where she was later certified as suffering from grievous injuries after suffering burns.

The woman is not in danger in dying.

The blaze was put out by Civil Protection Department officials.

Police investigations are ongoing.
