Teenager injured in hit-and-run incident

An 18-year-old woman from Paola suffered grievous injuries after being struck by a car on Friday night at around 11:10pm in Triq ix-Xatt, Pieta.

Preliminary police investigations have revealed that she was hit by a vehicle and thrown to the ground and that the driver stopped for a short time before fleeing the scene.

Following information passed on to the police, a vehicle has been traced.

The 18-year-old was taken to Mater Dei Hospital for treatment.
