This morning a bird trapper was fined €2,400 and lost his hunting and trapping licence for three years after court found him guilty of illegally trapping finches inside the Majistral nature park.

Another man from Zurrieq was fined €1,200 and had both licences suspended for two years for illegal finch trapping in 2014.

Both cases have been reported to the police by CABS which also provided the court with video evidence.

Yesterday, a Gozitan man was fined a record €8,000 after court found him guilty of illegal finch trapping close to San Lawrence during the closed season in spring 2015.
