Diver dies after drowning off Dwejra

A British diver died this afternoon after drowning while diving off Dwejra, Gozo.

Police said the incident happened at about 1:15pm, when the man found himself in difficulties while diving. The 52-year-old Briton was brought to shore by some of his companions and given first aid, but died on the spot.

Police investigations are ongoing, while a magisterial inquiry has been launched.
