Elderly woman killed, man grievously injured in traffic accident

A 77-year-old woman was killed on Saturday after she was run over while crossing a zebra crossing in Constitution Street, Mosta.

The incident occurred at around 10:00pm when the woman was run over by a Fiat 500 being driven by a 27-year-old woman from St Paul’s Bay. The woman, Josephine Galea, 77, of Mosta, was killed on the spot as she was crossing the road.

A 47-year-old man who was about to get into his car on the side of the road was also wounded in the incident and was taken to hospital suffering from grievous injuries.

The driver of the car was also taken to hospital as she was suffering from shock.

Police investigations are ongoing.
