Driver runs over police officer’s foot
Police officer slightly injured after man driving an expired vehicle runs over his foot in Regional Road.
A driver ran over the foot of a police officer after he had noticed that he was driving with an expired vehicle license last night.
At 10pm on Thursday, the police sergeant from the Traffic Section was conducting spot-checks in Triq Sant’ Andrija, St Julian’s. At one point, a man driving a Tata ignored his signals to stop the vehicle. The police officer gave chase and eventually stopped the driver at Regional Road, where he noticed that his vehicle license was expired. In a bid to escape, the driver drove off, running over the sergeant’s foot and slightly injuring him in the process.
The driver was arrested at 8:15 this morning next to the Corradino prison. When asked by MaltaToday, a police spokesperson said that they don't yet have any details about his identity.
