Two arrested after Ta' Xbiex hold-up
Police are holding two men in custody after an armed robbery at a gaming outlet in Ta' Xbiex late last night.
Officers had reacted to a report that two men, one of whom was armed with a firearm, had entered a gaming outlet on the Ta' Xbiex seafront and ordered a 20-year-old employee to hand over the day's takings. The robbery took place at around 11pm yesterday.
Three clients were in the premises at the time, but nobody was hurt in the heist.
The robbers got away carrying what was described as a "substantial" amount of cash but were arrested shortly after by officers from the police Rapid Intervention Unit.
Duty Magistrate Audrey Demicoli is leading an inquiry into the incident.
