Birkirkara man charged with aggravated thefts

A 33-year-old man from Birkirkara has been remanded in custody after he was arraigned in court, accused of multiple aggravated thefts.
Before Magistrate Ian Farrugia this afternoon, Inspector Kurt Zahra charged Neil Carl Farrugia with three thefts committed in Birkirkara and Hamrun between July 2014 and November 2015.
High-end cameras, a laptop and cash were amongst the things stolen when the two cars and a garage were broken into and robbed.
The inspector explained that the alleged crimes were deemed aggravated because of the means employed as well as the value or nature of the items stolen.
Farrugia was also charged with causing voluntary damage, relapsing and breaching bail conditions.
Lawyer Noel Bianco, assisting the accused entered a plea of not guilty with respect to the charges, however the court did not grant bail.
