Suspended sentence after being caught red-handed
Man handed a suspended sentence after admitting to stealing cash from restaurant which employed him
Bulgarian national, Mihail Svetoslavov Donev, was handed a suspended sentence after admitting to stealing cash from the restaurant where he worked at.
Inspector Frank Anthony Tabone, told the court that the 27 year old, who resides in Swatar, worked at Tex-Mex Sliema. On the night between Tuesday and Wednesday, the owner of the outlet apprehended Donev while he was taking money from the restaurant's cash register.
The accused was charged with stealing €50 and committing aggravated theft.
Magistrate Audrey Demicoli heard Donev's guilty plea and handed him a seven-month prison term suspended for 18 months.
