Youth attempts to steal police officer's laptop
22-year-old remanded in custody after attempting to steal the laptop of a uniformed policeman in Hamrun
A 22-year-old Somali national was remanded in custody after attempting to steal the laptop of a uniformed policeman in Hamrun.
On Tuesday 9 February, police officer Owen Bilocca was on duty at the offices of ARMS in National Road, Hamrun. At around 3:20pm, the police officer went to his vehicle to get his laptop and was walking back to the office when the accused snatched the case from him an attempted to make away with it.
Abiib Adan Hamze was charged with the attempt of committing aggravated theft and disobeying police orders. He pleaded not guilty.
Magistrate Audrey Demicoli refused bail to the accused, who was remanded in custody.
Inspector Elliott magro prosecuted. Legal aid martin Fenech appeared for the accused.
