Motorcyclist grievously injured after freak accident
45-year-old man from Hamrun grievously injured but in no danger of dying after Coast Road accident
A motorcyclist was seriously injured after a freak traffic accident along the Coast Road in Bahar ic-Caghaq.
The accident occurred at around 11am when a motorcycle driven by a 45-year-old man from Hamrun accidentally drove on a central strip while negotiating a roundabout. The man subsequently crashed into a couple of street signs and skid around eight metres before coming to a halt.
Fortunately other oncoming vehicles avoided the motorcyclist.
The man was given initial medical assistance by passers by and police.
An ambulance conveyed the man to Mater Dei Hospital where he was later certified to be suffering from grievous injuries. His condition is not life threatening.
Police investigations are ongoing.
