A fire has broken out near the Maghtab area, police have confirmed.

Images and videos forwarded to the newsroom show clouds of smoke billowing out from what appears to be a construction material site in the area.

The police could not yet confirm the source of the fire or whether anyone was injured or trapped in the building.

Members of the Civil Protection Department have been called on the scene and they are trying to control the situation, the police added.
