Man critically injured in roof collapse

A 24-year-old construction worker is in danger of dying after a roof collapsed in a private residence in Naxxar.

The incident happened in Triq Castro at around 8.30am. The man, who is from Mali, was carrying out works on the construction site. The roof collapsed whilst he was making use of a jigger. Workers found him on the ground, the police added.

An ambulance was called and the worker was rushed to Mater Dei Hospital.

A police investigation is underway and a magisterial inquiry was appointed.
