Five youths admit to Paceville mugging

Five youths - from France, Belgium and Switzerland - plead guilty to assaulting and robbing a Somali man in Paceville on Thursday 

Five youths were given suspended sentences after pleading guilty to mugging a man in Paceville.

The accused heard how Khalid Brik, 21, Ismael Karamoko, 19 and Frederic Mara, 22, from France, Mehdi Fayad, 19, from Belgium, and Camelia Farah Franco Zair, 19, from Switzerland had approached a Somali man in Paceville on Thursday night.

They robbed his wallet, that contained €1,200 in cash, and his mobile phone, worth €500.

Magistrate Doreen Clarke sentenced them to an 18-month prison term, suspended for three years.

The prosecution was led by police inspector Elton Taliana, while Victor Bugeja acted as legal aid for the five youths.
