Updated | Elderly man dies after being run over in Rabat

A 97-year old man from Rabat has died after he was run over while crossing the road this morning. The police said in a statement that the man passed away at Mater Dei, hours after he was hospitalised.

He was run over at Vjal il-Haddiem, Rabat at around 8:30am by a 48-year-old man from Rabat who was driving a Toyota Townace.

The man was rushed to the Accident and Emergency Department at Mater Dei for treatment of the serious injuries he had sustained.

An inquiry into the case has been opened and police investigations are ongoing.
