Two men injured in boating accident
A Maltese and a Moroccan man were injured during maintenace work on engine
The police were informed at about 08:45am of an accident that had taken place on a berthed boat on Tigne coast, Sliema.
When police arrived at the scene, preliminary investigations showed that the two men were injured when they were carrying out maintenance work on the boat engine, which caught fire as soon as they tried to start it.
The 26-year-old Maltese Żurrieq resident, and the 45-year-old Moroccan who lives in Żejtun, were taken by ambulance to Mater Dei hospital for treatment.
Later, the police was informed that the Maltese man had serious injuries and was in danger of dying, while the Moroccan had only minor injuries.
Natasha Galea Sciberras, the magistrate on duty, called for an enquiry and appointed several experts to assist.
Investigations are still underway.
