Egyptian charged with attempted violent sexual assault in Gozo

Man remanded in custody after denying charges of attempting a violent sexual assault in Xewkija

A 40-year-old Egyptian man was arraigned in court in Gozo and charged with attempting a violent sexual assault on a woman and of threatening the woman and others with violence.

The alleged incident took place on Tuesday in Xewkija.

The man pleaded not guilty to the charges and was remanded in custody.

In a separate case, a 30-year-old man from Rabat, Gozo, was charged with possession of cocaine, ecstasy, LSD and cannabis plants.

He was also charged with possessing enough cocaine to indicate that it was not for his personal use.

The man claimed he was not guilty and was granted bail against €1,000 deposit and a personal guarantee of €2,000.
