Police investigating alleged abduction, rape in St Julian’s
Italian woman, 30, was reportedly abducted in St Julian’s and taken to Pembroke where she suffered rape
The police have launched an investigation into a suspected abduction-and-rape case which took place in the early hours of today.
An Italian woman, 30, has been hospitalised and is assisting the police in its investigations after she reported having been raped by two men. The Police has arrested the suspected perpetrators, aged 34 and 36 from Nigeria and Burkina Faso.
The Police were informed at around 5.30am that a woman had been “abducted” close to the St Julian’s bay. Further investigations led the police to Pembroke who immediately spotted the car that had been used by the two men. A man who was standing by the car fled the scene as soon as he spotted the police officers but was soon arrested.
The police found the woman inside the car with a second man, who was also arrested. The woman was rushed to Mater Dei Hospital and is receiving medical attention. The woman told the police that she had been raped.
A police investigation is underway.
