Sulky rider, horse injured in traffic collision
57-year-old sulky rider from Qormi grievously injured after being involved in a traffic collision in a busy road
A 57-year-old sulky rider from Qormi and his horse were injured this morning after being involved in a traffic accident in Mdina Road, Qormi.
The crash occurred shortly after 7am when the sulky crashed into a black Peugeot 407 driven by a 23-year-old man from Qormi.
Upon impact, the vehicle's windscreen was smashed, while the sulky rider fell off the sulky and suffered grievous injuries.
The man was hospitalised where he was later certified to be suffering from grievous injuries. The vehicle's driver escaped unharmed, while the horse suffered slight injuries.
Officials from the Animal Welfare Department were on scene to comfort and treat the horse.
Police investigations are ongoing.
