Updated | Nine people seeking medical attention after two-coach collision
Seven people were hospitalised and another two taken to the Mosta health centre after two tourists coaches collided this afternoon • Police confirm no one suffered grievous injuries
Two tourist coaches collided at the Mellieha by-pass at around 1:55pm this afternoon, sending seven people to hospital and another two to the Mosta health centre for medical attention.
The accident took place when a Volvo B10M driven by 24-year-old Mosta resident and a Man-MCV Evolution driven by a 35-year-old Tunisian, resident of Birzebbuga collided in Louis Wettinger Road.
Health minister Chris Fearne took to Twitter to give updates about the case, pointing out that one of the people hospitalised was one of the drivers, identified later by the police as the 24-year-old.

Police sources also said those hospitalised included an Italian 18-year-old woman, three Italian men whose ages range between 19 and 21 and two Irish women of 26 and 28 years of age.
While authorities confirmed that no one was seriously injured as a result of the collision, reports have said that several passengers on the bus are suffering from shock.
A medical response team was called on the seen to examine the condition of those who were on board.
Some passengers sought medical assistance from members of Red Cross Society in Ghadira bay.
The Civil Protection Department was also called due to the amount of oil which spilled from the vehicles.
Police investigations are on-going.
