Two drivers injured, one critically, after cars overturn

Woman in critical condition after car overturned in Siggiewi

A man and a woman were seriously injured, one of them critically, in separate accidents as two cars overturned early this morning.

In the first accident, a Toyota Hilux driven by a 38-year-old woman from St Paul’s Bay overturned as it was being driven along Imqabba Road, Siggiewi at around 4:30am. The woman was given first aid by a medical team which arrived on site shortly after the incident, before being taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance.

The woman was subsequently certified to be suffering from life-threatening injuries.

Shortly after, a Toyots Starlet driven by an 18-year-old man from Qormi crashed into two parked cars and overturned in Mdina Road, Zebbug.

The damaged cars were a Seat Cordoba and a Daihatsu Sirion.

The youth suffered serious injuries, but he is not in critical condition.

Magisterial inquiries are underway while police investigations are ongoing.
