Rescue officials cut roof of vehicle involved in head-on crash to rescue those injured • Passenger injured in separate crash
Two men were seriously injured this morning following a head-on collision in Qawra.
The men, a 58-year-old from St Paul’s Bay and a 46-year-old Bulgarian residing in St Paul’s Bay, were injured shortly after 7:30am when a Peugeot van and an Audi were involved in a head-on crash in Triq it-Trunciera, Qawra, a stone’s throw away from the Amazonia beach club.
Upon impact, both vehicles were severely damaged and rescue officials were forced to cut the roof of the Audi to rescue the injured.
The driver of the Peugot Van, a 58-year-old from St Paul’s Bay and the passenger in the Audi, a 46-year-old Bulgarian, suffered serious injuries but are not in danger of dying.
The driver of the Audi, a 34-year-old Bulgarian also resident in St Paul’s Bay, suffered slight injuries.
All men are receiving treatment at Mater Dei Hospital.
Meanwhile, in another accident this morning a 46-year-old woman from Zejtun riding as a passenger in a Hyundai Accent driven by a 52-year-old Zejtun man was injured after a crash on Triq il-Labour, Marsa.
The crash occurred at around 5:15am when the Hyundai Accent crashed into a Vauxhall Corsa driven by a 23-year-old man from Fgura.
The woman was hospitalized.
