Updated | Elderly man dies two days after collapsing in staircase

A 78-year-old man died two days after falling down the stairs at his Dingli residence, injuring himself grievously.

On Tuesday 23 August, the man’s wife informed the police of the accident at about 11:00 pm, when she called them for assistance to a residence in Triq Santa Marija, Dingli after hearing a thud and finding her husband unconscious on a tier in the staircase.

He was rushed to Mater Dei hospital where he was given further medical attention and where he was certified critical.

The man died two days later.
