Man, 78, seriously injured after crashing into tree

A 78-year-old man from Qormi was seriously injured in a traffic accident yesterday.

The accident occurred at around 4pm in Mdina Road, Attard, when the man lost control of his Hillman Hunter, hit a van and crashed into a tree.

The elderly man was taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance, where he was later certified to be suffering from grievous injuries.

The driver of the van, a 30-year-old from Qormi, was uninjured.

Police investigations are ongoing.
