Updated | Girl, 5, critically injured in Madliena traffic accident
Girl was travelling in car with two women who were also taken to Mater Dei Hospital following impact with another vehicle
A five-year-old girl is in critical condition when the car she was travelling in was involved in a traffic accident at around 3.15pm on Wednesday in Madliena Road.
Police called on site concluded that there had been an impact between a Citroen Berlingo, driven by a 40-year-old man from Sannat, Gozo, and a Toyota Starlet, driven by a 36-year-old woman from Msida.
The girl was travelling in the car driven by the woman, together with a 65-year-old woman.
The two women and the girl were taken to Mater Dei Hospital where the girl was certified as being in critical condition. The 65-year-old woman was certified as suffering from grievous injuries while the 36-year-old was found to have suffered slight injuries.
The condition of the two women remains unknown, while the driver of the Citroen was unharmed.
Duty Magistrate Gabriella Vella appointed a number of experts to help her in the inquiry. Police investigations continue.
