[WATCH] German diver dies while swimming in Marsalforn

A 48-year-old German woman has died after finding himself in difficulty while swimming at Ras ir-Reqqa, in the limits of Marsalforn, Gozo.

The police and a medical team were called in on site at around 11am to rescue the woman, who had been diving with a group of people. She was airlifted off to the Gozo General Hospital, but was certified dead on arrival.

The exact cause of her death is not yet known, but police are investigating the incident.

She is the second person to die while diving in Gozo in recent days. On Wednesday, 27-year-old Ludovick Casha died after finding himself in difficulty while swimming at Dwejra.  

The diver was rushed to the Gozo Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
