Head-on collision lands woman in intensive care

A midnight accident which took place in Dawret il-Gudja, Gudja has led to a woman being held in intensive care while being treated for her injuries.

The 22-year-old woman, of Gudja, suffered grievous injuries after being involved in a head-on collision with BMW, being driven by a 19-year-old man, resident of Marsaskala.

The woman was driving a Toyota.

Two ambulances took both drivers to Mater Dei hospital, where the woman was placed in intensive care, while the man was found to be unharmed.

As a result of the accident, the road had to be closed to traffic for some time

Duty magistrate Donatella Frendo Dimech ordered an inquiry into the case, aided by several experts.

Police investigations are still under way.
