Five people have been hospitalised following a three-car crash at the Paceville junction on Regional Road, which happened at around 8:30pm.

A 22-year-old Naxxar man driving an Opel Astra and his two female passengers - both 23-year-olds from Rabat and Kirkop - and a 43-year-old woman from Pembroke driving a Toyota Yaris, and a senior Portuguese citizen behind the wheel of a Jaguar XF were taken to Mater Dei hospital by ambulance.

Civil Protection Department officials had to free two of the passengers from the Opel Astra. Four ambulances and two emergency physician response units were deployed.

One victim had grevious lower limb injuries.

Police later confirmed that the two women had suffered grievous injuries while the 22-year-old driver and the Portuguese national suffered mild injuries.
