Man injured as crane overturns in Swieqi

A medical team has been dispatched to a construction site in Swieqi where a worker was injured when a crane overturned.

Another worker is also being treated for shock.

The incident happened just after noon in Triq ix-Xiber, when the vertical arm of the crane toppled over onto the construction site, dislodging the vehicle carrying it, which came to rest on its side on stone slab separating the road from the building site.

Members of the Civil Protection Department are on site and are trying to pull the crane back up.

State media reported that no workers have been trapped, citing a spokesperson for the Civil Protection Department.
