Birgu man stands to lose €10,000 and liberty after bail breach

Man pleads guilty to breaching bail conditions and relapsing, prosecuting police inspector asks the court to confiscate €10,000

Clayton Cremona, a 32-year-old man from Birgu, has pleaded guilty in court to breaching bail conditions and relapsing. Although not stated in today's arraignment, Cremona is understood to have been on bail on drug trafficking charges since April last year.

Prosecuting police Inspector Frank Anthony Tabone said that the man had failed to sign his bail book on multiple occasions and had breached his curfew. He asked the court to confiscate the man’s €2000 deposit and €8000 bail guarantee in view of his admission.

Cremona also pleaded guilty to relapsing.

Magistrate Grazio Mercieca, presiding, will deliver the man’s sentence on Thursday.

Lawyer Franco Debono was defence counsel.
