At least one person injured in Mellieha shooting

Mellieha district police and members of the Rapid Intervention unit are currently searching for an individual who fired a shot that left one person injured this evening.

The police that at 7:15pm a 29-year-old Mellieha resident driving an Isuzu van, who was accompanied by a 30-year-old Gzira resident were driving through Triq il-Qammieh in Mellieha when the passenger was hit by shotgun pellets.

Both men were injured but they contiunued driving, until they reached Triq il-Marfa, when they stopped the vehicle and were assisted for their injuries.

Both men were taken to hospital for treatment, with both men suffering with grievous injuries. The police have said the incident is likely related to hunting.
