Paceville fight lands woman in the dock
The tourist who attacked a woman at St. Julian's last Tuesday, was found guilty and conditionally discharged for one year
A tourist from Latvia has admitted to attacking and slightly injuring a Maltese woman in St. Julian’s.
Before magistrate Charmaine Galea this morning, Inspector Leeroy Balzan Engerer accused Pipina Elvira , 33, from Latvia with slightly injuring a woman and breaching the peace. Elvira, who is staying at a hotel in the area is understood to be on holiday here.
The incident took place on Tuesday.
Magistrate Charmaine Galea heard the accused plead guilty to the charges.
The court found her guilty and conditionally discharged her for one year. A protection order was also issued in favour of the victim.
If within the next year she commits another offence she would be tried for this crime too, warned the court, ordering her to find alternative accommodation. “If you have relatives at the hotel they can stay there, but you can’t.”
Lawyers Josette Sultana and Lara Mizzi were legal aid.
