Man seriously injured in Paola crash
33-year-old man badly hurt in collision with another vehicle driven by 30-year-old
A 33-year-old man from Birzebbuga was grievously hurt today, when the car he was driving was involved in a collision with another vehicle in Paola.
The police said that the accident, which happened at around 9.20am in Vjal Santa Lucija, at the intersection between Marsa and Paola, involved a Peugeot 206 driven by the victim, and a BMW 3-series driven by a 30-year-old man from Marsascala.
The Peugeot was substantially damaged by the impact, with media reports that the car overturned, performing a complete revolution before ending up back with its tyres on the ground.
Civil Protection Department officials, as well as a medical team from Mater Dei Hospital, were called to the scene to assist the victim. He was taken to the hospital for treatment, where his injuries were found to be serious in nature.
The Marsascala man escaped the accident unharmed.
Police investigations are ongoing.
