Three drunk drivers caught during police roadblocks last night
Over 500 drivers stopped at police checkpoints Monday night, a number of whom were found to be violating road rules
The police carried out 558 car inspections during roadblocks on the night of New Year's Eve, with three persons having been caught over the drink-drive limit.
The checkpoint inspections were carried out by Traffic and Canine Unit police in various localities, such as Bahar ic-Caghaq, Birkirkara, Burmarrad, Mellieha, Imgarr, St Paul's Bay, Kappara, Lija, Pembroke, St Julian's, Qormi, Marsaskala, Tarxien, Zejtun, Luqa, Floriana and Paceville.
A number of drivers were found to be in contravention of traffic regulations, including operating a vehicle without a valid driving license, not wearing a seatbelt, not having a valid road license or insurance policy and using fake number plates.
