Two on drug trafficking charges after Gozo raid

Two persons are expected to be arraigned on drug trafficking charges after an operation by Drugs Squad officers in Gozo.
The two men, a 29-year-old Italian and a 45-year-old Maltese citizen from Fontana, Gozo, were arrested on Thursday, the police said in a statement this afternoon. They were allegedly trafficking drugs in St. Francis Square in Victoria, Gozo.
The Italian was found to be in possession of an amount of cannabis grass ready to be trafficked and a search of his residence recovered more packets of drugs as well as cannabis seeds and paraphernalia used in the cultivation of the illegal plant.
The Maltese man was found to be carrying several packets containing what is thought to be heroin, whilst suspected cocaine was found in his home, together with items related to drug abuse.
The men will be charged in the coming days.
