Drunk driver narrowly avoids carnival enthusiasts in Marsalforn

Carnival enthusiasts waiting outside an establishment to be admitted to a party were narrowly avoided by a car that swerved onto the pavement in Marsalforn, Gozo.

Police have said that the incident took place around 2am this morning when the area was crowded with young people waiting to get into the establishment.

The man, from Xaghra, lost control of the vehicle and is suspected of being under the effect of alcohol at the time of driving.

He will be arraigned in the coming days.
