Two men admit to hotel room theft
They were each handed a probation order by the courts
Two young men admitted on Saturday morning to stealing a bag containing clothes.
Ibrahmin Micalef, 19, and 16-year-old Dawid Piotr Ciecerski, both St Paul’s Bay residents, appeared before duty magistrate Donatella Frendo Dimech, charged with stealing the items from the San Anton Hotel in Triq ir-Ramel.
Micalef was also charged with committing a crime while serving a suspended sentence and recidivism.
In addition to the hotel room theft, Ciecerski was also charged with having stolen items worth €3,000 from a car in St Paul’s Bay.
Both men had were handed a suspended sentence while Micallef also had his suspended sentence extended.
Lawyers Franco Debono and Amadeus Cachia appeared for Micallef, while Lennox Vella was counsel to Ciecerski.
During sentencing, the Court appealed to the two youths to reform themselves, stressing that the items they had stolen had been purchased by individuals who had worked for them.
