AD protests Electoral Commission’s decisions to drop instructions in English
Contrary to previous elections, information in polling booths will only be written in Maltese
Alternattiva Demokratika has protested a decision taken by the Electoral Commission, which has decided that information in polling booths will only be in Maltese.
AD secretary general Ralph Cassar published correspondence between the party chairperson Arnold Cassola and Chief Electoral Commissioner Joseph Church which reveals that the decision is “final”.
“The Electoral Commission’s decision to print the instructions in Malta is final and won’t be changed,” Church told Cassola, after the latter asked for the situation to be remedied.
The Green Party said this was the first time that the Electoral Commission took such a decision, whereby instructions will not be written in the English language as well.
