Labour leader Joseph Muscat visits companies to explain Labour's energy plan.
Labour leader Joseph Muscat visited motor leasing company Burmarrad Commercials, where he lauded the business which he said had started off as a one-man show to a company employing 50.
Owner Mario Gauci, and his son Mario junior, said that importation of cars had decreased and that the company is now more focused on providing leasing services of commercial vehicles.
Some of the clients of the company established in 1984 include the rural affairs ministry, MaltaPost, the Water Services Corporation, and Nestlé.
The company is planning to invest €10 million and double its workforce, to start expanding into North Africa. "We are proud to say that we do not fear change," Mario Gauci jnr said.
Latching on to the political overtone, Muscat welcomed Gauci's commitment to change.
"This week we are proposing a roadmap in energy and together with the private sector, we believe the reduction of tariffs for businesses is achievable. By March 2015, companies will see a reduction of 25%. In the coming weeks we will announce more incentives for businesses."
Muscat then went on to meet workers at the Golden Harvest Factory in San Gwann's industrial estate. Muscat said that the reduction in utility bills will continue to help companies to expand, not only locally but also abroad.
