Developers say PL’s energy proposals are a ‘doable project’

The Malta Developers Association (MDA) has welcomed the Labour Party’s energy proposals, describing them as a 'serious attempt to solve the problem through a doable project.’

The Malta Developers Association (MDA) considers the Labour Party's energy proposals as a serious attempt to solve the country's energy problems through a "doable project," although it Also expressed preoccupation on how possible it was for the project to be completed within two years.

In a statement, the MDA said that the political discussion on electricity tariffs  after the Labour Party unveiled its proposals "was positive because the lowering of these tariffs could be the key to a stronger, more vibrant Maltese economy."

The positive effect of cheaper tariffs on the scale indicated by the Labour Party on the Maltese economy would "undoubtedly be enormous and stimulate the business sector to contribute further for the good of Maltese society and its further progress," MDA said.

The association said that it was pleased to note that the Labour proposal has led to a mature discussion on the energy sector, to the extent that it appears that there is agreement on the need for something to be done on the current electricity tariffs and on the importance of involving the private sector in the energy generation field.
