Muscat greeted enthusiastically by mothers in Fgura
Mothers gather in front of Fgura primary school as Labour leader pays a visit.
Labour leader Joseph Musact was given an ecstatic welcome by some 20 mothers in front of the primary school in Fgura as they all gathered to take his picture and encourage him for the elections, nicknaming him "our Joseph" [Joseph taghna].
As they waited for Muscat, the women's talks were dominated by the war of the tablets: with Muscat promising a tablet for all Year IV students and Lawrence Gonzi promising it for every schoolchild and teacher.
In his brief address to the parents, Muscat reiterated his party's pledge to fight illiteracy - be it IT, sciences, maths or languages - and the distribution of tablets to Year IV students.
Muscat said a Labour government would invest highly in libraries and carry out an IT investment at the public library in Floriana. He also spoke about the need to empower heads of schools and teachers when it comes to the education of the students.
