[WATCH] Muscat pledges to fast-track Dock 1 project
Labour leader tells Bormla residents that the project would be finished in the 'first months' of a Labour legislation.
Speaking under the rain and surrounded by angry Bormla residents, Labour leader Joseph Muscat pledged that a new Labour government would finish the Dock 1 project during the first months of its legislature.
"This project has been promised to you since 1996 and its deadline has been extended one time after the other to the detriment of your health and the businesses," Muscat said this morning in Bormla.
"But we pledge that if elected this project will be finished in the shortest time possible."
Muscat added that it was "obvious that others don't care about this area" and said that now government was in a rush to complete the project.
Meanwhile, a woman appeared with a 1996 leaflet featuring the former minister John Dalli and the PN's promise of upgrading the area. She said that the rubble and dirt had attracted mice and infectious flies, with the consequence that she herself had been affected.
