[WATCH] Lawrence Gonzi mobbed at Junior College
PN leader Lawrence Gonzi given hero’s welcome by Junior College students.
PN leader Lawrence Gonzi was given a warm welcome by sixth form students as he paid a visit to the Junior College in Msida.
After exchanging views and sharing a coffee with students in the college's canteen, Gonzi said that the Junior College which hosts 2,300 students was a clear example of the country's efforts in the educational field.
The Prime Minister said his administration "created jobs which offered a bright prospective to students attending different educational institutions."
Confirming Maltese politicians' pop star status, the Prime Minister was mobbed by tens of sixth form students, who chanted his name and PN slogans from present and past. Gonzi and PN secretary-general were asked to sign the party's electoral programmes and posed for pictures with students as they entered the college's canteen.
Although such educational institutions are fertile ground for radical political activism in Europe and beyond, Malta's post-secondary and tertiary institutions remain dominated by the PN and Labour and satellite student organisations.
