PN committed to creating new jobs in Gozo
Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi says a new PN government would create new jobs in Gozo and invest in education.
The €1.1 billion EU funds obtained last week would be invested in education and Gozo, among others, PN leader Lawrence Gonzi said.
"If the PN is re-elected to government, a good chuck of the €1.1 billion will be invested in our younger generations, our children," Gonzi said as he explained that the funds would be used to expend the educational opportunities offered by all institutions, including University, Mcast and ITS.
Speaking in Gozo this morning, Gonzi added that a new PN administration would invest in three main pillars of its policy, job creation, health and education.
Warning that the international crisis is far from over and urging the electorate to make the right decision on 9 March, Gonzi said "what I was told and what I heard from my fellow European leaders concerned me. The storm is not over and for this reason it is of utmost importance to choose carefully when voting."
Earlier on, during a visit to Merit Precision Tools factory at the Xewkija industrial estate in Gozo, Gonzi said a PN government was committed to guarantee training and education opportunities to Gozitan youths and create more job opportunities.
On the Enemalta oil scandal, Gonzi said his administration was determined to fight corruption whoever is involved and reiterated that he stood by transport minister Austin Gatt's claims that he never met businessman George Farrugia or anyone to discuss oil procurement deals.
Farrugia, the director of Aikon Ltd and an agent for commodities firm Trafigura and Total, has been granted a presidential pardon to turn State's witness and reveal how commissions or kickbacks were paid to Enemalta officials for the supply of oil to the state utility.
Gonzi said that he accepted Gatt's denial adding that his Cabinet used the strongest legal tool available to fight corruption, a Presidential pardon, on the advice of the Attorney General and Police Commissioner John Rizzo.
