EPP President expresses his support to Lawrence Gonzi

The President of the European People's Party (EPP) Wilfried Martens today said that under the mandates of Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi and the Nationalist Party, Malta had seen its economic situation improved amidst difficult times, testifying for his good economic management.

"Several indicators such as high level of employment, low youth unemployment, and putting back on track the deficit, demonstrate PM Gonzi's capability to lead the country in a stable and sustainable manner," Martens stated.

"Besides his excellent track record both at national and European level, Lawrence Gonzi constitutes the best guaranty for a sound and secure future for the Maltese people, who are at the core of his programmatic proposals. The strong focus of PM Gonzi on employment, health services and education underlines his will to bring better prospects for his country as a whole but also for each and every citizen," Martens added.

"Needless to say, the EPP stands behind Lawrence Gonzi and the Nationalist Party in the hope that the Maltese people will entrust them to continue their efforts in making Malta a prosperous EU country," Martens concluded.
