After spending years dealing with 'adults' in politics, getting down to the level of children can be quite a big deal...

There's no doubt that politicians dealing with kids, unless they are kissing babies off for the votes, are always going to be awkward.

The least that Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, Opposition leader Simon Busuttil, President Marie Louise Coleiro Preca and EU Commissioner Tonio Borg expected was to be interviewed by a group of children on Europe Day and the EU.

Here are the five major takeaways:

  1. Tonio Borg actually wanted to "become a Pope" when he was a kid
  2. Simon Busuttil does not confirm whether he was a popular kid at school
  3. Borg asked what Malta was like before the EU: "It was the same size, neither larger nor smaller". (Yawn, boring...)
  4. Marie Louise Coleiro Preca "never wished" to become President of the Republic
  5. Muscat can't draw, but he wanted to become a painter
