Labour needs Marlene Mizzi in the European Parliament - Muscat

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat endorses Marlene Mizzi’s EP candidature as one of ‘success and substance’

Describing incumbent Labour MEP Marlene Mizzi as “a woman of subtance”, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat lauded Mizzi’s work at the European plenary, underlining that he was proud of her contribution.

Mizzi, who last year replaced Finance Minister Edward Scicluna as MEP, has insisted that it was Muscat himself who convinced her to run for the European elections.

Addressing a political event in Madliena, Muscat described Mizzi as a “woman of substance who does not fear anyone”, claiming that the situations she had to face made her more determined than ever.

Outlining the Labour MEP’s work at the European parliament, Muscat said Mizzi built important stepping-stones and if re-elected on the PL ticket, she will continue contributing successfully.

Insisting that he has full trust in her work, the prime minister also argued that it is the Labour Party which needs Marlene Mizzi in the European Parliament, and not vice-versa.
