EU environment ministers meet with Pope Francis

The meeting was coordinated by the Italian environment minister Gian Luca Galletti and the minister Carole Dieschbourg of Luxembourg, which also holds the EU Presidency. 

European environment ministers, including minister Leo Bincat, enjoyed a private audience with Pope Francis this morning. 

Brincat, accompanied by his wife, met with the pontiff in the Vatican to discuss the most recent encyclical letter, which outlined the importance of the environment and preventing climate change.

Also present were EU environment commissioner Karmenu Vella and commissioner for climate change Miguel Arias Canete.
