A journalist held by Belgian police over the Brussels bombings has been freed due to “lack of evidence”.

The man, known as Faycel C, was arrested in Brussels and charged with terrorist murder.

In a brief statement, the federal prosecutor said there was not enough evidence to keep him under arrest.

Meanwhile, the third accomplice in the CCTV footage released by Belgian police remains at large.

The toll from the bombings climbed to 35 early Monday while several suspects remained in custody from Belgium to Italy and the Netherlands, picked up as part of a spree of searches carried out over the weekend. Three were charged with terror offenses though it was not explicitly clear if they were linked to any particular attack.
